Success Story!

Kohaku, a very good little doggie!
I just wanted to send a little update on Kohaku’s (Kasper’s) progress. I’ve renamed her Kohaku. It’s Japanese for the color amber, and I thought since she’s that color and didn’t answer to anything any way, I’d just give her a new name.
She is now eating. I finally figured out that she doesn’t like to eat off bowls, so I put some food on the floor and she ate some Purina Beneful last night. (We’ll work on the bowl thing later.) Crate training is going well, she’s had only two accidents and both times I caught her and got her outside before she was empty, so she is learning.
She’s warming up to
Rickie, and they are interacting on a very basic level: sniffs, head butts,
and once they took a nap with their little butts touching, so that’s coming
along really well after only four days. I’ve discovered that Rickie is
very protective of her food, so we are having separate din-dins.
Kohaku is starting to really come out of her shell, and enjoys running around
the backyard with Rickie. She is learning to come when she is called, and actually
got up on her haunches to get a hug this morning. She’s a very good little doggie!
