Lady and Her New Dad

Lady was relinquished by her owner to the Central Missouri Humane Society. Her owner, whom Lady had lived with for all of her 8 years of life, decided he wanted to “travel.” Columbia Second Chance took Lady into their program and provided her a foster home.

Lady’s demeanor and expressive, lovely face clearly told us that she couldn’t comprehend why she was abandoned and uprooted from her family. But we knew that to know Lady is to love her, and we were determined to find her a wonderful family—a forever home where dogs are not considered disposable property.

Jaeyoung Yoon and his fiancée decided to give Lady a chance after they met her at an adoption event. Not many folks give 8-year-old German Shepherd mixes a second look—few want an older dog. But this family agreed to take Lady into their home for a trial period. At the end of the trial run, a decision was made: Lady was the perfect dog for them!

Jaeyoung and his fiancée marveled at what a superb dog Lady was. Why would anyone relinquish her? She’s wonderful—it makes no sense. We in rescue ask ourselves that question endlessly but there’s never an answer. So we keep on doing what we do and when a dog like Lady and a family like Jaeyoung’s fall in love, we don’t mind so much that our question goes unanswered.
