Success Story!

Wilson with his "Lion Cut" after his matted fur was shaved.
Happy Wilson in his new home with his fur grown back.

Wilson - he's "Mr. Grumpypants" no more!

Wilson was originally adopted from CSC several years ago. He was abruptly returned to CSC this winter due to unacceptable behavior. His long hair was badly matted. This painful condition lead him to be ill-tempered and extremely unhappy. One of our volunteers nick-named him Mr. Grumpypants as he hissed and growled whenever she approached him. Clearly, Wilson was not a happy camper. With this behavior, we all thought that he would be at the Catty Shack a long time.

When we realized that the condition of his coat was beyond our expertise and there was concern that there might be some medical problems, we discussed his situation with Dr. Leach. One of the assistants at Peach Tree Animal Hospital offered to shave Wilson down to a "lion cut." Dr. Leach gave him a thorough check, especially his teeth as the Persian/Himalayan mouth structure can develop severe dental problems. Wilson was pronounced well and was quite pleasant to everyone, after his fur cut. This was good news.

After returning to the Catty Shack Wilson befriended one of the resident feral cats. She hissed every time we approached him for attention. After several weeks Wilson left his perch and started to socialize briefly with the volunteers and began to trust humans again. (The Feliway was installed during this time and we feel strongly this helped his disposition turn friendly.)

One day a call came into CSC with an interest in Wilson. We jumped at the chance to interview this potential parent .After talking with Cathy Roark I just knew he had found his "fur-ever" home. He shares his parents, Wayne & Cathy with a Pembroke Welsh Corgi dog and they are best friends. The Roark's and all their friends and family are madly in love with Wilson. She says that he is very spoiled and a absolute love bug! Isn't it amazing how some of our cats have such awful beginnings and such marvelous endings! I think we can safely say, "And they all lived happily ever after!"
