Success Story!

Here is a picture
of me and Ryka. We are at home in the
mountains in Colorado for the weekend, visiting my parents. Ryka is in
doggie heaven with all the squirrels, rabbits and other woodland creatures
to hunt. She and my parents' German shepherd, Jackson, have effectively
excavated the entire garden in efforts to locate the resident vole. They've
also disassembled one of the rock walls on the property going after a family
of chipmunks! We go on walks through the neighborhood every morning, and she
gets to investigate all the elk hang-outs and bear trails. Too bad the two
of them joining forces were still not able to knock that annoying
mockingbird out of the tree this morning - they sure tried, though. I'm not
sure she'll want to get back in the Jeep with me to head back to Missouri in
a couple of days! My mom is begging me to leave her here because she's
fallen in love with Ryka.
In Kansas City, we've
found a great dog park in the middle of the city that
we frequent during the week. There's plenty of space for her to get her
sprints in. Saturdays are prime social time, when there are at least 30 dogs
during the afternoon. She makes sure to greet every single pup and coerces
as many as possible to run laps with her.
Ryka's also proven
herself to be an invaluable guard dog. She awoke us in
the middle of the night a couple weeks ago because there was a suspicious
character snooping around our cars and the back gate. What a good girl!
Thank you again so
much for providing the connection with Ryka. She
has become such a wonderful companion and comfort in my life!
Best,
Kristin
