About
My Dog Jasmine
by Jonathan
My wish came true on April 12, 2003 when I got the dog that I always wanted. Her name is Jasmine. April 12 is her anniversary as a member of our family, since we don't know her real birthday. Jasmine was about two years old, very scared and shy when we got her. She isn't scared or shy anymore. Jasmine was a stray when Columbia Second Chance came to her rescue. Columbia Second Chance is a rescue shelter in Columbia, Missouri that finds homes for dogs and cats that are homeless or running loose.
Jasmine is part beagle, part hound and weighs about 40 pounds. She sheds a lot. She likes to be brushed, but doesn't like to have a bath. Jasmine loves to go for her walk each night, lick people and play in the snow. Jasmine can sit, lay down and even shake your hand.
Jasmine chews things up, too. Some of her favorite toys are a sock, a rag bone and a nylabone. We tried to play with her with a tennis ball but she tore it apart.
Jasmine stays in her kennel
when we're gone and at night. She's also got a pillow, that we call her couch,
because she isn't allowed on our couch. Every morning, Jasmine wakes me up by
jumping on my bed and licking me in the face. On Sundays, Jasmine gets a Greenie,
which is a green treat shaped like a toothbrush. She plays with it for a little
bit before she eats it. We don't feed her human food. Instead, she gets Eukanuba
dog food. When Jasmine goes out to the restroom, she gets a treat. Sometimes
we give her a treat just because we want to.
