Success Story!

KC Seithel and her mom on vacation
KC, formerly known as Lady, was a 9-year female CoIlielShepherd mix brought to the local humane society about two years ago to face a precarious future by her owner (who'd owned her since she was a pup) because he wanted to travel. CSC took KC into their program and off she went to her foster home where she remained for several months.
KC's foster mom wondered whether anyone would consider adopting this "senior" dog, as so often people shy away from doing so. CSC volunteers commonly hear a litany of concerns about adopting senior dogs (they won't live much longer, they have health issues, etc.). Yet most rescue volunteers know that senior dogs and cats often make the best companions and are among the most loyal animals an adopter could hope for.
Bill and Robin Seithel noticed KC's picture on the CSC website and felt drawn to her image. The Seithel's drove to Columbia to meet KC and decided to take her home on a trial basis to see how she fared. It wasn't long before the whole family was enamored of this lovely elegant dog who immediately bonded with everyone in the household (canines and humans alike). KC was formally adopted by her best and last family and continues to thrive and savor her many blessings.
This story is testament to the folks on CSC's front lines who face so many tough situations and to all our volunteers who strongly believe that senior dogs and cats deserve a second chance - and to the families that adopt senior pets and understand that older dogs and cats make wonderful family members, and that we will all be seniors some day if the fates allow it.
P.S. KC, the dog who was abandoned
because her owner wanted to travel, has journeyed to Florida not once but twice
with her family to vacation in a luxurious, pet-friendly seaside condo and continues
to travel with her family to destinations near and far.
