Princess

"Hello Family/Friends of Columbia Second Chance,

We are just writing to give you an update on our adoption. I've been trying to make time to do this for a long time and so I'm so glad that I finally have found a window of time to contact you guys. Equally my daughter is just as glad, as she has been my little reminder voice for months.

So anyway, we write to let you know how wonderful our dog "Princess" is doing. We adopted Princess in February '05 and our lives and our home have been wonderfully changed ever since.

She is a bundle of joy and though she has calmed down quite a bit since her infant days, she is still a ball of energy and my 8 year old just loves every bit of it. We have a big yard and a bounty of animals live in it, including a couple of rabbit families (who actually reside under our deck), squirrels, groundhogs, a host of moles, birds (all kinds), and even an occassional wild turkey will visit. (A mixed cocker & golden retriever), Princess finds these animals both interesting and attractive for lots of reasons. Though we've raised her as an inside domesticated dog, she just loves the outside and gets a kick out of running around the yard after all the other yard resident animals, digging holes to look for moles (and catch them), and trying to climb the trees to play with squirrels and catch birds (she's just not quick enough for these animals ).

She also loves my daughter's babies (baby dolls and stuffed animals) and we've learned that she is not much of a babysitter (as she has grabbed a few of these and shredded them to pieces). We had many tearful moments in the beginning. Though Princess has calmed down and is not as interested in the babies (baby dolls), our daughter is much more careful about where she puts her toys.

Pincess spends most of her days curled up in my daughter's bed, perched in the window, outside running around, or playing tag or catch w/ us. She is so much fun and reminds us of how pure and wonderful innocent love is.

The past 2 years have been a blessed joy and we just love Princess. Our drive down to Columbia and adoption of Princess has been a great gift and now at this Thanksgiving Season it is important that we say "THANKS" to Columbia Second Chance for giving us the opportunity to enrich our lives so."
