McKauley was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and moved to Columbia in the summer of 2021.

Her lifelong passion for animals turned into 8 years of experience as a veterinary technician in general practice, specialty and surgery.

She is a Fear Free certified professional and is also certified in basic and advanced life support.
